The Laughing Raven Lodge is a family business featuring premier Alaskan vacations with world-class ocean fishing since 1994. Fully guided fishing trips for Halibut, four varieties of Salmon, Rockfish, Lingcod, and Sablefish are our specialties. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality experience by maintaining a guest to guide ratio of not more than four to one, with no more than eight guests per trip.
In addition to fishing, guests may enjoy hiking and exploring the rugged and beautiful islands of Southeast Alaska that few Alaskan visitors are able to experience. Kayaking and photo opportunities include whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals, sea otters, bald eagles, numerous varieties of sea birds and Alaskan brown bears.
From our front windows is it not uncommon to see and hear humpback whales feeding and breaching. the Laughing Raven Lodge provides warm and relaxing ocean view rooms, each with a private bath. Visitors come together for delicious meals served in our hearty Alaskan family-style tradition. Abundant portions of gourmet seafood entrees, luscious side dishes, fresh herbs and vegetables from our greenhouse, home-baked bread, mouth-watering desserts, and a "bottomless cookie jar" are daily fare.
Our remote location helps to ensure that your vacation will be full of cozy camaraderie, rather than combative crowds. Port Alexander is a quaint boardwalk-fishing village in Southeast Alaska, 75 air miles south of Sitka, and 120 miles south of Juneau, the capital of Alaska. About 60 people live on this rugged tip of Baranof Island, surrounded by mountains, rainforests, fjords, and the pristine North Pacific. Visitors arrive by floatplane or boat because there neither roads nor cars in this scenic little community.
I have come to Alaska ten times and consider the Laughing Raven Lodge to be the best place I have ever been, to capture in one place all that is unique to the state: remote tranquility, wonderful people, luxury in the backwoods, unparalleled fishing of all types, each meal a special treat.
